About Dr. Carlin

One of the most experienced, licensed individual, marriage and family therapists in Atlanta.

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting my website. My name is Dr. Susan Carlin. I am a licensed individual, marriage and family therapist that has been practicing for over 35 years. My office is located in the Virginia Highlands area. Life presents all of us with pain and adversity. I have helped patients learn to cope with these situations through the tools that I present in therapy. We all want to be understood and recognized for who we are, but frequently emotions and situations get in the way. Things like anxiety, depression, crises, traumas, addictive behaviors, or unhappy relationships intervene and disrupt our lives.

I also understand that in a therapeutic relationship, confidentiality and empathy are vitally important. This is why I personally return all phone calls and schedule all appointments myself. My office includes a separate entrance and exit. I respect each person’s individuality including religious ethnicity, culture, and belief system. My goal as a therapist is to use the process of psychotherapy to foster trust and individual and interpersonal growth.

“I have been seeing Dr. Carlin for several years. She is an empathetic, insightful and caring therapist.  She has helped me understand and facilitate major changes in my life. I can’t say enough positive things about her.” – Donna C.
